1. How often should grease exhaust system be cleaned?

As per the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) adopted and enforces procedures guided by NFPA 96

**Upon inspection, if found to be contaminated with deposits from grease –laden vapors, the entire system shall be cleaned by properly trained, qualified, and certified company person (s) acceptable to the authority having jurisdiction in accordance to Section 11.3.

2. Why is cleaning the kitchen exhaust system in its entirety important and why can’t my employees clean the hood?
  1. The importance of regular maintenance helps to maintain proper efficiency of the system. It also helps to prevent potential fire hazards such as a fire which may result in bodily harm or loss of life.
  2. NFPA 96 states, “The entire exhaust system shall be cleaned by a properly trained, qualified and certified company or persons”.

5. Does your company correct VIOLATIONS?
  • Yes, we can assist with violations and give you the associated paperwork needed to cure them.
6. How often does an exhaust fan need to be maintained?
  • Semiannual. The belts, bearings, pulleys, rotation of fan blades and electrical connection on fan motor have to be maintained in order to maximize the functionally and ultimately the lifespan of said product.
7. What should I do if my exhaust system isn’t pulling? I’m experiencing smoke build up in my kitchen space? and/or a rattling noise from my exhaust fan?
  • A fan evaluation by an experienced & qualified technician can determine the source of the deficiency and provide a solution to get your system back up and running efficiently.
