1. Electrical / Mechanical Technician

Chief Fire Prevention, located in Mount Vernon, NY is currently seeking an Electrical/Mechanical technician to join our growing team

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The E/M Tech will be responsible for:

  • Installation of electrical controls & equipment, testing, start-up and commissioning of assigned projects
  • Mechanical and/or electrical maintenance services and emergency calls
  • Daily progress reports, Services work orders & Material lists

SKILL-SET:

Individuals applying for this position will be expected to have experience with:

General Construction:

  • Ability to read and follow “Blue prints” and construction drawings
  • Read a tape measure
  • Understand and follow all OSHA and site safety regulations   

Electrical:

  • Read and follow electrical diagrams and one line drawing
  • Install: Conduit, MC, THHN, Enclosures, Distribution Panels, Control Panels, Mains & Low Voltage AC Equipment up to 480V
  • All associated brackets, fasteners and support, to be compliant with NEC (NFPA 70) State and Local Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ)    

Mechanical:

  • Motor, Pulley, Bearing and Belt changes
  • Exhaust and Supply fan troubleshooting
  • Take voltage, current readings with a DMM
  • CFM readings with an anemometer
  • Pulley sizing calculations is a plus
  • Direct fire gas heat and experience with Pollution Control Units experience is a plus.

Chief Fire Prevention is seeking a skilled Automotive/Autobody Mechanic to maintain and repair our vehicles. The ideal candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting issues and fixing each vehicle to maximum reliability and functionality.

DUTIES, TASK AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Keeps equipment available for use by inspecting and testing vehicles; completing preventive maintenance such as, engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation and changes, wheel balancing, replacing filters.
  • Maintains vehicle functional condition by listening to operator complaints; conducting inspections; repairing engine failures; repairing mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions; replacing parts and components; repairing body damage.
  • Verifies vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems.

DUTIES, TASK AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform all tasks required to see assigned projects completed
  • Observe all safety procedures and use proper protective gear
  • Must have MIG, TIG and Stick as well as all forms of field welding experience (overhead, horizontal, vertical, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Multi Pass Welding
  • Must be a Fitter/Welder
  • Experience with Layouts, Blueprints, Cosmetics Welding and working with thick material
  • Candidate must possess strong background working with Steel and Sheet Metal

Sales or estimating background in mechanical engineering and/or service based industry is a plus, but not a requirement.

11. Director of Operations

The Director of Operations, under guidance and direction of the Chief Operating Officer, oversees management of all Chief Fire Prevention & Mechanical divisions providing fire suppression & kitchen exhaust fabrication, installation, service & maintenance to the commercial restaurant industry, adhering to the highest standards of quality and cost effectiveness.

Essential Functions

  1. Manages division supervisors in the corporate HQ and any other location designated by Chief Fire Prevention & Mechanical to ensure that clients are provided products and services in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  2. Ensures standards for quality, equipment, and field technician performance are maintained and that cost-effective procedures are used to maximize productivity. Ensures company assets are properly used and maintained. Initiates recommendations on purchases of new equipment.
  3. Develops, monitors, and reports on operational efficiencies/inefficiencies within functional areas. Alerts management of labor and cost overrun. Makes recommendations and implements solutions to problems related to same, providing detailed reports to executive staff in a timely manner.
  4. Ensures that work is properly coordinated, and schedules are issued in accordance with company procedure, verifying the appropriate level of redundancy is maintained to eliminate servicing failures.
  5. Under guidance, advises division managers on labor issues including safety, security, employee relations, scheduling, training, grievances, etc. Ensures division managers and supervises are adhering to company policy and administering practices in fair and equitable manner.
  6. Creates weekly management meeting agendas in consultation with COO, to include preparation, issuance & maintenance of running log.
  7. Engage directly with management and field supervisors to ensure use of best practices. Required to frequently inspect operational function and report findings in an acceptable form to the COO.
  8. Manages and controls expenses effectively. Strictly adheres to assigned budget.
  9. Hires, trains, develops and appraises staff effectively. Takes corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy. Consults with human resources as appropriate.
  10. Keeps up-to-date on information and technology affecting functional area(s) to increase innovation and ensure compliance.
  11. Prepares accurate and timely reports as required.
  12. Assists the Chief Operating Officer in preparation of operating and capital budgeting as required.
  13. Interact with clients as directed.
  14. Ensure that appropriate resources are employed to achieve sales goals established by executive management. Monitor trends in performance and enact early intervention strategies to maximize output and minimize work slow-downs and stoppages.

  18. Liaise with Workers Compensation carrier for all workers compensation claims. Act as the company contact point between employees and carrier. Maintain all required records for same in accordance with appropriate Federal, State and Local laws.
  19. Monitor and submit payroll reports.
  20. Implement and continuously monitor and adapt policies and procedures.
